PeerBlock Portable works best with the Platform

From the publisher: PeerBlock lets you control who your computer "talks to" on the Internet. By selecting appropriate lists of "known bad" computers, you can block communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring your p2p activities, computers which have been "hacked", even entire countries! They can't get in to your computer, and your computer won't try to send them anything either. And best of all, it's free!

PeerBlock Portable includes the 32-bit and 64-bit variants of both the legacy and modern versions of PeerBlock, automatically selecting the appropriate one, for full support on every PC you use.

I recently fell in love with this application again, after forgetting about its existence for many years. I like it because it allows the user to connect domain company names with IP addresses. I never knew so much crap was referenced when loading webpages, I just assumed a firewall would block most of it. Essentially, it's allowed me to remove firewall rules from my firewall that were based on CDNs, social media etc..., passing over decision making to PB. This is a pretty cool application to have as a surf protection module. It sure beats the hell out of using web shield features in security software (no slow down).

It works for me without Admin privileges though... and there is no mention of Admin requirements in their how to.
