Connecting through Cryptostorm in China

Post by scarlet81 » Sat Mar 09, 2019 8:48 am

I'm a US resident visiting China next week and I was wondering if anybody had any experience within that country trying to connect to the rest of the web through Cryptostorm? I have the setup to work on my phone and have successfully connected through there before but was just wondering if any additional precautions or steps would need to be taken to have it work when I'm there?

@OP

As far as I am aware, the Great Firewall will (at least try to) block OpenVPN at the protocol level. The newer CS configs employ TLS to encrypt the OpenVPN handshake which should defeat and kind of Deep Packet Inspection. However Cryptostorm IPs are public, so blocking them is not exactly difficult.
